System integration is the process of integrating all devices (including hardware and software) in a manufacturing plant into a unified operational system to optimize production efficiency. Hardware (physical components) includes machinery systems, computer hardware, and other production materials. Software (virtual components) typically consists of various data systems (databases), software, or applications installed in control systems.
